Une longue journée en train / A long day in trains

Mercredi le 5 juin / Wednesday June 5

Debout à 4h et nous avons marché avec nos bagages jusqu'à la gare et nous sommes partis vers Milan à 5h45. C'est une plaine avec beaucoup d'agriculture, des villes et édifices historique et les montagnes vers le nord.
Presque 3 heures d'attente à Milan pour le prochain train vers Brig en Suisse, nous sommes sortis prendre un café en face de la gare.

Après Milan, on commence à monter dans les montagnes avec de beaux lacs, rivières et vallées et de plus en plus souvent des tunnels. Il y avait plusieurs arrêts en route. Les pics les plus hauts ont encore de la neige sur leurs sommets.

Arrivés à Brig notre train vers Genève nous attendait... un vrai régional qui arrête dans toutes sortes de petites villes, avec un panorama spectaculaire - toujours des lacs, des montagnes et des vallées.

Une attente encore à Genève et après départ vers Lyon. Nous nous sommes rendus chez Célia, notre hote qui nous a accueilli dans son bel appartement. Après une douche, nous avons marché jusqu'à la gare pour voir combien de temps ça prendrait... parce que jeudi matin il était nécessaire d'être à l'aeroport avant 8h30.
Pendant notre ballade nous avons trouvés la buanderie que nous avions longuement cherché  à Padoue! :)

Up at 4 am and we walked to the train station with our luggage. At 5:45 am we were on our way to Milan. The route is on a plain with a lot of agriculture, historical cities and buildings and the mountains to the north.
With almost a 3 hour wait in Milan before our train to Brig in Switzerland, we had a coffee across the street from the station.
After Milan we started the climb into the mountains with beautiful lakes, rivers and valleys and frequent tunnels. Several stops on the way. The highest peaks still have snow on their summits.
In Brig our train to Geneva was waiting for us... a real regional which stopped in all sorts of small towns, with a still spectacular panorama of lakes, mountains and valleys.
After a wait in Geneva we were off to Lyon where we made our way to the nice apartment of our Airbnb host Célia. After a shower we walked to the train station to see how long it would take... we had to be at the airport before 8:30 am the next morning.
During our walk we found the laundromat that we had spent so much time searching for in Padua! :)
